Country music’s rising star Tucker Wetmore has revealed the complete tracklist for his much-anticipated debut album, What Not To, set for release on Friday, April 25. Produced by Chris LaCorte, the 19-song album reflects the highs and lows of Wetmore’s 25 years, offering a full introduction to one of the genre’s most exciting new voices.
The album has generated significant buzz, with Country Central describing Wetmore as “just a heartbeat away from a household hit.” Wetmore co-wrote 11 tracks on the album, including fan favorites like the long-requested “Drinkin’ Boots” and the viral hit “Brunette.” The album’s songs are intricately linked, with Wetmore comparing the themes to “red yarn connecting a bunch of pins on a wall.” At the heart of the album lies the title track, “What Not To,” which explores themes of struggle, compassion, and salvation. The song features the poignant line, “Momma said you don’t pray no more / breaks my heart, so I do it for you.”
To kick off the release, Wetmore has made appearances on national television, including CBS Mornings Plus and ABC News Live, offering fans an exclusive first look at the album. He also celebrated a career milestone with his first major country music award nomination for ACM New Male Artist of the Year.
Adding to the excitement, Wetmore dropped a final preview track from What Not To titled “Casino,” which received praise from Holler, noting Wetmore’s knack for creating catchy, crowd-pleasing hits. This release comes after his first No. 1 hit at country radio with “Wind Up Missin’ You” earlier this year, and his follow-up single, “3,2,1,” is already climbing the charts.
Wetmore’s rapid rise continues internationally, having recently been named an artist to watch by Spotify, VEVO, Billboard, MusicRow, and the Grand Ole Opry. This spring, he captivated audiences across Europe during his performances at the Country 2 Country (C2C) festival, including a sold-out show at London’s Electric Ballroom. He will maintain this momentum with his extended WAVES ON A SUNSET TOUR 2025, which runs through May, before hitting the road as direct support for Thomas Rhett’s BETTER IN BOOTS TOUR 2025, playing 33 markets this summer.
In just one year, Wetmore has gone from a newcomer to a chart-topping sensation, thanks to his back-to-back Billboard Hot 100 hits, “Wine Into Whiskey” and “Wind Up Missin’ You.” His debut EP and over 855 million global streams have only added to his growing fanbase. Additionally, Wetmore earned a nomination for Best New Country Artist at the iHeartRadio Music Awards and made his national television debut on NBC’s TODAY with Jenna & Friends.
Wetmore’s impressive journey includes multiple chart successes and a major-label record deal with UMG Nashville, in partnership with Back Blocks Music. He also made his Grand Ole Opry debut and featured two songs on the star-studded Twisters soundtrack. His first EP, Waves on a Sunset, was well-received, and his first headlining tour was a major success. Now, in 2025, Wetmore will extend his headlining efforts across the UK, US, and Europe, before joining Thomas Rhett’s BETTER IN BOOTS TOUR 2025. Wetmore’s music blends a variety of genres, including country, reggae, rock, and hip-hop, all rooted in classic country storytelling.
The debut album What Not To will showcase Wetmore’s diverse musical influences and his journey from a rising star to a breakout country sensation. With his current single “3,2,1” climbing the charts and his first No. 1 hit under his belt, Wetmore is set for an exciting year ahead.
