Thomas Rhett made an unexpected appearance in Nashville on April 14, but it wasn’t just his performance that caught everyone’s attention—it was his broken ankle. The country music star took the stage at Bridgestone Arena alongside Forrest Frank to perform their song “Nothing Else.” However, the night took a turn when Rhett ended up in a wheelchair after the show.
The “Marry Me” singer shared a video of the incident on social media, showing himself jumping up from the audience and running toward the stage, only to fall in the process. A crew member helped him get back on his feet, and he continued to sing and dance with Forrest Frank, even though he was clearly hopping on one foot. The video then cut to Rhett being pushed in a wheelchair by his wife, Lauren Akins, with his injured ankle wrapped in a brace.
In the post, Thomas Rhett captioned the video, “How I broke my ankle at a Forrest Frank concert” and added, “Forrest told me to pull up and I left in a wheelchair.”
Despite the injury, Rhett kept a positive attitude. He told the camera, “Sometimes you need to sing at a Forrest Frank concert and break an ankle in the process. I gave my all for Tennessee this week.” As Lauren wheeled him offstage, she joked, “Go Vols. Send it, send it for Jesus,” to which he replied, “You have no mercy, at all. It’s unbelievable.”
Fans flooded the comments with messages of support, with one fan writing, “Lauren’s laugh Feel better soon TR!” Another remarked, “Bro broke his ankle and performed like nothing happened. That’s a pros pro.” Forrest Frank also praised Rhett, calling him an “ABSOLUTE CHAMPION.”
Other fans left encouraging comments like, “And just another example of how great of an entertainer you are!! Prayers for a speedy recovery!” and “Praying for a quick recovery!! ”
Thomas Rhett is expected to recover soon, as he is scheduled to kick off his Better in Boots tour in June. Fans are hoping to see him back on stage in no time!
