Rockshots Records is excited to announce MARGANTHA, a black metal band that merges darkness, atmosphere, and storytelling into their music. The band, founded by seasoned musicians from the extreme music scene, was created with the goal of anonymity. By stripping away names, past projects, and expectations, MARGANTHA allows its music to speak for itself.

The band’s debut EP, Blood Moon Sacrifice, is set for release on June 27, 2025. This concept album is inspired by an ancient legend passed down orally through generations. The story, shared with the band’s vocalist by his grandmother, centers around a werewolf haunting a hunter’s village at the foot of a remote mountain range. This eerie tale has been transformed into a series of songs that aim to provide a fully immersive experience, rather than just something to listen to.

The EP was mixed and mastered at Sonic Train Studio by renowned guitarist and producer Andy LaRocque (King Diamond), bringing additional depth and intensity to the sound.

The band explains their creative process:
“We always start with the concept. The music follows naturally, often beginning with a guitar riff or arpeggio and evolving through collaboration. We aren’t focused on technical showmanship. Every decision serves the narrative. The result is raw, evocative, and direct—staying true to the essence of black metal while adding layers of atmosphere.”

MARGANTHA’s sound draws influence from bands like Mgła, Uada, and Gaerea, blending intense energy with the dark, epic style of Naglfar and Behemoth. They also channel the spirit of pioneers such as Celtic Frost, Venom, and King Diamond. The songs are designed to be memorable and impactful, aligning perfectly with the album’s conceptual vision.

Though MARGANTHA is just starting its musical journey, the band’s identity is already evident both in their sound and visual presence. Their live performances aim to mirror this energy, aiming for a tight, relentless, and immersive experience. Inspired by legendary performances where the music speaks louder than words, the band seeks to create live shows that are emotionally charged, with minimal pauses.

MARGANTHA is an Italian-Finnish band formed by three musicians with a shared passion for black metal and horror aesthetics. Their goal is to create a powerful and evocative sound, drawing inspiration from bands like Mgła, Ensiferum, Behemoth, and 1349, while incorporating atmospheric and melodic elements.

Their music, with its dark and haunting tones, explores themes of horror and Gothic atmospheres that evoke a journey into the darkest corners of the soul. The lyrics delve into the macabre and supernatural, offering listeners a glimpse into eerie and mysterious worlds.

The band also draws inspiration from art in all its forms—from the writings of Bram Stoker, Mary Shelley, and Robert Louis Stevenson, to the paintings of Caravaggio, Bosch, and Turner. This artistic influence is evident in their visual identity, with photographs designed to evoke the style of classical paintings, reinforcing the dark and ominous mood of their music.

MARGANTHA’s fusion of Italian and Finnish traditions creates a unique sound that is both powerful and evocative, blending musical and artistic elements from both cultures into a distinct black metal experience.
