Japanese music group IMP. has quickly become a standout act in Japan’s music scene with their high-energy performances and genre-blending sound. The seven-member group, originally known as IMPACTors, began their journey under Johnny & Associates’ Johnny’s Jr. division in 2020. However, they rebranded as IMP. in July 2023 after joining the entertainment company TOBE.

In August 2023, IMP. released their debut digital single “CRUISIN’,” which instantly made waves. The song topped the Oricon Weekly Digital Single Ranking and the Billboard Japan Download Songs chart. Following this success, the group released their first full-length album, DEPARTURE, on May 29, 2024. The album features a mix of upbeat tracks and soulful ballads, with the lead single “NINNIN JACK” standing out. This English-language song, inspired by a ninja theme, blends traditional Japanese elements with modern pop sounds.

Now, IMP. is back with a new single, “Cheek to Cheek,” and the excitement is palpable. The song serves as the theme for the upcoming TBS drama Two Husbands One Wife, which stars member Taiga Suzuki. Premiering on April 8, with early streaming available on Netflix, the series complements the song’s upbeat, positive message and fun choreography. Fans can expect a celebratory atmosphere, with the song encouraging connection and spreading joy, alongside a new viral dance trend.

The group shared their thoughts on the new release in a recent interview. Kageyama Takuya reflected on the group’s previous hit, “NINNIN JACK,” noting its iconic ninja-inspired dance moves. He mentioned how the intense rehearsals for that performance made it especially memorable for him.

When asked about the choreography for “Cheek to Cheek,” Sato Arata revealed that there’s a fun, sync-dance sequence during the chorus in the music video, which fans can easily follow and try themselves. He encouraged fans to join in the fun and replicate the moves.

IMP.’s growing fanbase across Asia has also caught the group’s attention. Matsui Minato expressed gratitude for the support from international fans and shared their excitement about the possibility of performing in Southeast Asia. “We’ll keep working hard and hope to create more opportunities to visit our fans in the region,” he said.

With their infectious energy and strong international appeal, IMP. continues to rise as one of J-Pop’s most promising acts.
