INDIO, Calif. (KESQ) – The Stagecoach Country Music Festival is set to begin tomorrow in Indio, bringing some of country music’s biggest stars, as well as well-known past chart-toppers and special acts, to the stage. Thousands of fans have already started arriving to enjoy the performances scheduled throughout the weekend.
According to the Indio Police Department, traffic for early-arriving campers has been steady, with no major issues reported. “Operations are continuing smoothly,” the department stated.
The festival follows the conclusion of the Coachella Music & Arts Festival, which took place at the same venue, the Empire Polo Club, last weekend.
Friday’s performances will include Alana Springsteen, Carter Faith, Dylan Scott, Mae Estes, Ashley McBryde, Flatland Cavalry, Sammy Hagar, and the Bacon Brothers—featuring actor Kevin Bacon—along with Tracy Lawrence, Waylon Wyatt, and many others.
Saturday and Sunday lineups are still being finalized. Traffic controls similar to those during Coachella will remain in place for the entire weekend.
The Indio Police Department closed Avenue 50, between Monroe Street and Madison Avenue, at the end of March. This closure will remain in effect until May 5 due to Stagecoach events. Additionally, there will be no access on Avenue 49 between Hjorth and Monroe streets, Avenue 50 between Jackson and Madison streets, or Hjorth Street between Avenues 49 and 50. Madison Street will also be closed between Avenues 49 and 52.
Travel delays are expected, especially on Washington Street between Interstate 10 and Avenue 52, as well as Jefferson Street, Avenue 48, and Avenue 52 near the Empire Polo Club. Significant delays are also anticipated on Highway 111 at Jefferson and Monroe Streets, as well as at all freeway exits leading into Indio.
To avoid heavy congestion, officials recommend using Jackson, Calhoun Street, and Golf Center Parkway for north- and southbound travel. For easier east-west travel, Fred Waring Drive, Miles Avenue, and Dr. Carreon Boulevard may offer smoother routes.
Uber and Lyft users will have a designated pickup and drop-off point at the southwest corner of Avenue 49 and Monroe. Family and taxicab pickups will be at the northeast corner of Avenue 52 and Madison.
The Indio Police Department is receiving assistance from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol for the festival weekend.
