LOS ANGELES, April 27 (Reuters) – Chubby Checker, Cyndi Lauper, and Soundgarden are among the 2025 inductees to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The announcement was made on Sunday by “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest during the ABC singing competition show.

Other inductees include the English rock band Bad Company, hip-hop duo Outkast, blues and rock singer Joe Cocker, and garage rock group The White Stripes. The induction ceremony will take place in Los Angeles on November 8 and will be streamed live on Disney+.

Inductees were selected by a combination of fans and industry experts. To qualify for induction, artists must have released their first recording at least 25 years ago.

Chubby Checker, 83, became famous in the 1960s for popularizing dance moves like “The Twist” and “The Limbo.”

Bad Company, formed in 1973, produced classic hits such as “Feel Like Makin’ Love” and “Bad Company.”

Joe Cocker made his mark on the charts with hits like “You Are So Beautiful” and the Oscar-winning “Up Where We Belong,” recorded with Jennifer Warnes. He also became famous for his iconic performance of The Beatles’ “With a Little Help from My Friends” at Woodstock.

Cyndi Lauper, 71, emerged as a star in the 1980s with her vibrant style and songs like “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”

Soundgarden, a key player in Seattle’s grunge rock scene, was led by Chris Cornell, who tragically passed away in 2017.

Outkast, formed in 1992 by Big Boi and Andre 3000, became famous for hits like “Hey Ya!” The White Stripes, led by Jack White, helped revitalize garage rock in the 2000s.
