Joe Jonas urged fans not to believe rumors that he and Sophie Turner want to get divorced.
The Jonas Brothers star, 34, filed for divorce from the Game of Thrones actress, 27, on Tuesday. The split has been the subject of feverish speculation.
The Cake by the Ocean musician and his two brothers performed at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles over the weekend, and he took a break to address what he called his “tough week.”
“It’s been a tough week,” said Joe, who had ditched his wedding ring. “I just want to say, look, if you don’t hear it from these lips, don’t believe it. Okay? Thank you all for your love and support. Me and my family love you.
The day after filing for divorce, the couple shared a joint statement on Instagram, saying the decision to separate was made “mutually” and “amicably.”
Joe has asked for joint custody of their two daughters, ages 13 months and three years, according to court documents obtained by gossip website TMZ. The site has also published claims about the reasons for their divorce – rumors the couple also addressed in their statement.
“There are many speculative stories as to why, but this is truly a mutual decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children,” the splitting couple added.
