Megan Thee Stallion has been removed from the lineup for the 2023 Global Citizen Festival.
Global Citizen has confirmed that the 28-year-old rapper will not be performing at the annual music festival in New York City next weekend due to scheduling conflicts.
“Due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict, Megan Thee Stallion will no longer be available to perform at the 2023 Global Citizen Festival,” the advocacy organization told multiple outlets.
Megan has yet to comment on the news.
It was announced in early July that the Grammy winner would headline the festival, along with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Lauryn Hill. It was later announced that Anitta and Jung Kook of BTS would also headline the event.
Besides the headlining acts, Conan Gray, D-Nice, Stray Kids and Sofia Carson will also perform on the Central Park stage.
The festival is a free, ticketed event. It will be broadcast live from New York City’s Central Park on September 23. The goal of the event is to end extreme poverty and to raise awareness about the climate crisis and the inequalities that affect women and girls around the world.
The Global Citizen announcement was made just hours before Megan’s performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. She will take the stage at the Prudential Center in New Jersey to perform Bongos, her latest collaboration with Cardi B.
In addition to her music career, Megan will also star in the upcoming comedy Dicks: The Musical. The film, directed by Larry Charles, premiered last week at the Toronto International Film Festival and will be released in theaters on September 29.
