Backstage at the MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday night, Megan Thee Stallion and Justin Timberlake appeared to have a heated exchange.
A clip from MTV’s live backstage feed showed the Savage rapper getting glammed up before her performance as the members of NSYNC walked through the crowded area.
Justin leaned over to talk to Megan. Megan pointed her finger at Justin and his bandmate Joey Fatone and shook her head. She then turned away, looking angry.
The clip has gone viral on social media. Many users suggested the musicians were arguing. However, what was said during the brief exchange was revealed by an insider to both Variety and Entertainment Tonight.
“He said, ‘It’s so nice to meet you,’ and she said, ‘No, no, this doesn’t count, this doesn’t count. We have to meet properly. It was very sweet,” the source claimed, while a second eyewitness added: “Meg loves Justin. She was like, ‘No, no, no, we’ve never met before. It was their first meeting and she was excited.”
In addition, a backstage source who was a witness to the exchange told Variety, “There was no fight.
