After being treated for pneumonia, Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley has been released from the hospital.
Earlier this week, the rock star was rushed to the emergency room and admitted to a medical facility.
After showing signs of improvement, Deryck’s wife, Ariana Whibley, revealed that he has now returned home.
“I am very happy to give this update. Deryck has been discharged after responding so well to his treatments,” Ariana wrote on her Instagram account on Saturday. “He is now under the care of his mother, who is a registered nurse, and myself.”
“The pressure and strain on his heart and lungs has improved and he is able to breathe without as much pain,” she added.
Ariana went on to express her gratitude for the “outpouring of love” and support that Deryck has received since the news of his hospitalization first broke. She said the response from fans has been “overwhelming” and has helped her stay positive in the wake of the health scare.
The “Fat Lip” singer’s hospitalization was revealed on Friday, when Ariana announced that he would be receiving treatment on the day the couple had planned to celebrate their eighth wedding anniversary.
“The scariest part is that there is a lot of stress on his heart and they are telling us that there is a possibility of heart failure,” Ariana said in a social media post.
Deryck was previously hospitalized after collapsing at his home in 2014. The 43-year-old star was later diagnosed with liver and kidney failure due to alcohol abuse, and spent three days in a coma.
