Lizzo has been the subject of a lawsuit by her former stylist Asha Daniels.
The Rumours hitmaker’s former stylist Asha Daniels has filed a lawsuit against the singer for allegedly creating a “sexualized, racist and illegal work environment,” according to court documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight.
Daniels claims in the suit that Lizzo didn’t stop her management team from mistreating others who worked under them. In the suit, she named other members of the team, including wardrobe manager Amanda Nomura.
The stylist recalled that Nomura made “racist and fat-phobic comments” and said cruel things about Lizzo’s backup dancers “on multiple occasions,” along with insisting that Daniels be fired.
She claimed that her tour manager called her “insane”.
Lizzo’s legal team released a response to the lawsuit.
“As Lizzo receives a Humanitarian Award tonight from the Black Music Action Coalition for the incredible charitable work she has done to uplift all people, an ambulance-chasing lawyer is trying to sully that honor by recruiting someone to file a bogus, absurd publicity stunt lawsuit who, wait for it, has never met or even spoken to Lizzo,” they said. “We will give this all the attention it deserves. None.”
