Britney Spears’ father Jamie Spears is on the mend after being admitted to hospital with a bacterial infection.
The Toxic hitmaker’s father, Jamie, was recently hospitalized with a bacterial infection, multiple outlets confirmed Friday.
According to People, Jamie, 71, fell seriously ill and was hospitalized as a result. The former entrepreneur has since been moved to an outpatient infectious disease facility to recover.
Jamie’s health scare comes five years after he was hospitalized in Las Vegas in 2018 after a “spontaneous rupture” of his colon. The medical emergency resulted in Jamie undergoing emergency surgery before being hospitalized for 28 days, according to a statement from Britney’s team.
Jamie is also dad to Jamie Lynn, 32, and son Bryan, 46, with former wife Lynn.
Until two years ago, the retired construction executive had control of Britney’s life for 13 years as her conservator. Jamie was suspended as his daughter’s conservator in 2021, and the legal agreement ended shortly thereafter.
The pop star has kept her distance from her father since the end of her conservatorship. They are still embroiled in a number of legal issues as a result of the agreement.
