The best-selling vinyl single of 2023 so far is claimed by experimental producer Aphex Twin.
Blackbox Life Recorder 21F was Twin’s (real name Richard D. James) first new music release in half a decade and his first UK Top 100 chart entry since 1999.
Anarchist icons Sex Pistols take the remaining two places in the top 3 with classic singles Anarchy In The UK (2) and Holidays In The Sun (3), following limited edition vinyl releases earlier this year.
Elsewhere, The Rolling Stones’ 2023 comeback track Angry, the first single from their new album Hackney Diamonds, debuts at number 4. Accompanied by a buzzy music video featuring Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney, Angry gives the Stones their first Top 40 hit on the Official Singles Chart in 18 years.
Brand new 2023 releases that also made the list include Niall Horan’s Heaven (10) and Meltdown (26), Olivia Rodrigo’s chart-topping Vampire (13), Chase & Status, Bou, Flowdan, Irah, Trigga & Takura’s Top 10 smash Baddadan (26), Alison Goldfrapp & Claptone’s Digging Depper (23), Inhaler’s Valentine (24) and The Last Dinner Party’s Nothing Matters (35).
