For their new single, Bombay Bicycle Club have teamed up with Chaka Khan.
The indie band’s latest single, “Tekken 2”, features a surprise feature from the Queen of Funk, and Chaka has revealed she enjoyed working with the group.
The 70-year-old star said: “After Jack [Steadman] invited me and then sent me the song, I loved it, the ethereal part drew me in. The band has such an innovative and passionate energy, really great musicians. Absolute vibes.
Jack’s collaboration with Chaka has also been a surreal experience.
He shared: “It was a pretty crazy journey, from sitting on my sofa fiddling with a keyboard and drum machine to sitting across from Chaka Khan in a fancy Los Angeles studio giving her vocal direction.
“Chaka was an absolute superstar and the whole experience was so positive. I think the song reflects that – it’s about coming together, putting all the bad thoughts aside and just enjoying the moment.
The single will be featured on Bombay Bicycle Club’s new album: “My Big Day”, which will be released on October 20.
The forthcoming album also features contributions from Damon Albarn, Jay Som, Nilüfer Yanya and Holly Humberstone.
Meanwhile, plans for a new headline tour of the UK and Ireland in January and February have been announced by Bombay Bicycle Club.
The tour will kick off in Belfast on January 29th and wrap up in Cardiff on February 18th.
