A collaborative album with The Stone Roses’ John Squire is to be released next year, according to reports.

The former Oasis singer previously hinted that he and the guitarist would form an all-star group after he surprised fans with the pair’s two Knebworth shows last June, when they performed the Britpop group’s 1995 classic “Champagne Supernova”.

And now it’s claimed the pair have hit it off so well in the studio that they’re set to release an album next year. And they may even be planning some gigs around the release.

An insider told The Sun’s Bizarre column: “Liam and John have been friends for years, but things really started to take shape after his sold-out shows at Knebworth last summer.

“Initially they just wanted to go into the studio together and see how things went.

“The sessions went so well that they are now set to release an album next year.

“There has been talk of doing a handful of live shows around the release as well, but nothing is set in stone with that.”

Liam had originally hinted on Twitter (before it became X): “Super group coming LG JS. ”

And speaking to Matt Wilkinson on Apple Music 1 for the ‘Home Sessions’ series, the ‘Diamond In The Dark’ singer confirmed the pair will be working together “at some point” and he’s hoping to sing on some tracks for him.

He said: “Yeah. Seriously, man. But we’ve got things to do first and he’s got things to sort out and that. But yeah, I’m definitely going to do summat at some point”.

Matt asked: “So you’ve actually had a bit of a conversation?”

Liam, whose return to Hertfordshire’s Knebworth Park came 26 years after Oasis played to a record 250,000 fans over two nights at the outdoor venue, replied: “Maybe, yeah. I probably did at Knebworth and that, I think, is if I can remember anything about it.

But no. There’s talk of Summat. Maybe. But no hurry. He’s my man, I love him. So if he’s got any tunes that need singing, I’m the boy, buddy. “
