Two new versions of the mega-hit ‘Cruel Summer’ have been released by Taylor Swift.
In the midst of the record-breaking success of ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour’ concert film, the pop superstar has been blown away by fans who have been dancing and even “getting engaged” at movie screenings.
And she wants Swifties to “scream” and dance along to her fan favorite “Cruel Summer.” That’s why she’s releasing the live version from her tour and a remix by DJ LP Giobbi.
She thanked her fans for the epic response, writing on Instagram: “What a truly overwhelming thing you’ve made The Eras Tour Concert Film. I’ve been watching videos of you in the theaters dancing and prancing and recreating choreography, making inside jokes, casting spells, getting engaged, and generally creating exactly the kind of joyful chaos we’re known for.
“One of my favorite things you did was when you supported ‘Cruel Summer’ so much that I ended up starting the Eras Tour show with it. For old times’ sake, I’m releasing the live audio from the tour so we can all scream it in the comfort of our homes and cars PLUS a brand new remix by @lpgiobbi. Thank you so much, forever, wow, just thank you!!! ”
The movie was shot over the first three nights Taylor played at California’s SoFi Stadium this summer.
Taylor’s tour is scheduled to resume in South America in November. It will then head to the UK in the summer of 2024.
Cruel Summer’s remixed and live version arrives almost a week before 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is released on October 27.
So far, Taylor has released the re-recorded versions of “Fearless (Taylor’s Version),” “Red (Taylor’s Version)” and “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).
The “Shake It Off” singer is re-recording the six albums that she released on Big Machine Records after Scooter Braun took over the label and took possession of her master recordings.
