The most pre-ordered mini-album in K-pop history has been released by SEVENTEEN.
The group’s distributor, YG Plus, have announced that their 11th mini-album ‘Seventeenth Heaven’ has received more than 5,206,718 pre-orders, breaking the record set by Stray Kids for their May release ‘5-Star’, which in turn had beaten SEVENTEEN’s ‘FML’ in April this year.
The band will release the collection of eight new songs – which have been revealed to be ‘SOS’, ‘Diamond Days’, ‘Back 2 Back’, ‘Monster’, ‘Yawn’, ‘Headliner’ – along with the video for ‘God of Music’ at 6pm KST.
Earlier today, Pledis Entertainment revealed that frontman S Coup – who leads the band along with Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon and Dino – will not be involved in promoting the project as he is still “vulnerable” after undergoing ACL and ACL reconstruction surgery two months ago.
They said: “The affected area is still in a vulnerable state. Rehabilitation treatment is crucial at this stage and he has received medical advice that it would be best to avoid any physically demanding activities for the time being”.
S Coup went on to confirm the news that he was going to “rest up”.
He wrote on the community app Weverse: “I wanted to participate in activities as much as possible, but I’m going to take a break to focus on rehabilitation so I can see you all in the long run.”
As one of the few K-pop groups to be involved in writing and producing their own music, the band has proudly opened up about how important it is to them.
Woozi told Refinery29, “At the end of the day, regardless of what’s going on, our music is what we sing and what we show to our audience,” adding that they feel it’s important that their material is “sincere” and showcases their “genuine nature” to their “Carats” – the nickname for their followers based on their 2015 hit “Shining Diamonds” – as he believes “that’s why our Carats like our music.
