Madonna, Dua Lipa and Coldplay will headline Glastonbury next year, according to reports.
The festival has been criticised over the years for its male-dominated headline acts, but 2024 will see two women take the top slots for the first time, with the Levitating hitmakers set to take to the Pyramid Stage on Friday night, followed by the Yellows on Saturday.
Organizers are said to be “thrilled” with the line-up they have put together.
A source told Britain’s Mail on Sunday newspaper: “It’s a dream line-up, a brilliant mix of different music and different atmospheres. Then of course you have Madonna on the final night, which will be epic.
Coldplay previously headlined the festival in 2002, 2005, 2011 and 2016, while it will be Dua’s first headline appearance and Madonna’s first ever performance at the iconic event, which takes place at Worthy Farm in Somerset.
The news comes just weeks after organizer Emily Eavis hinted that Madonna could top the bill.
Speaking to Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw on their podcast ‘Sidetracked with Annie and Nick’, she said: “I thought it was kind of taking shape, and then I just got a call last week, and that’s what happens when you wait a little bit longer, because quite often we’re booked from July. But this year we’re waiting a little bit longer.
“And then last week I got a call from [a representative of] a really big American artist saying, ‘This person is coming next year,’ and I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is unbelievable. Thank God we had the slot.'”
The timing of the phone call coincided with Emily’s seeing Madonna at the O2 in London, but she was adamant that people shouldn’t read too much into her posting about the gig on the Internet.
