ATEEZ take on Peter Gabriel as they head towards their first ever UK No. 1 album

K-pop group ATEEZ have scored their first UK #1 album this week with THE WORLD EP.FIN : WILL.

The South Korean eight-piece, consisting of Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung and Jongho, have already scored a Top 10 entry with the second of their three THE WORLD EP releases, THE WORLD EP.2 : OUTLAW, in April this year (10).

But it’s far from a done deal, as just 1,500 UK chart units separate ATEEZ from the midweek number two, Peter Gabriel’s i/o (Bright-Side Mix). The Surrey-born musician’s first collection of new material since 2002’s LP Up, it looks set to be his highest charting album in 31 years, since 1992’s number 2 Us.

Pink’s former No. 1 album TRUSTFALL looks set to return to the Top 5 following the release of a Tour Deluxe Edition (5).

Following her performance of DJ Play a Christmas Song on The Graham Norton Show last week, Cher’s Christmas could reach new heights and earn the icon an 11th Top 10 album (7). The collection finds Cher collaborating with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Michael Bublé and Cyndi Lauper.

Soft Cell’s 1981 debut studio LP, Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret, returns to the Top 40 for the first time in 41 years thanks to a multi-format reissue (14). The Corrs’ 2001 hits compilation Best of The Corrs is also set to rise after a reissue (26); the new version includes three tracks dedicated to the late Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac.

Close behind, Light Years, Kate Rusby’s seventh Christmas album, could give the English folk star her fourth Top 40 LP (28).

Travis Scott’s chart-topping UTOPIA could climb 21 places back into the Top 40 this week (30), and finally, English music producer Trevor Horn could score his second Top 40 collection with his covers album ECHOES – ANCIENT & MODERN (31).
