Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce has addressed the mixed reception that his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, received from some New England Patriots fans during the Chiefs’ game on Sunday. Speaking on the latest episode of his New Heights podcast, Kelce commended Swift for her composed response to the varied reactions.
Discussing the moment when Swift appeared on the screen at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts wearing Chiefs merchandise, Kelce stated, “They showed Taylor at the game. You don’t see an entire home team fan base go insane for someone wearing the opposite colors. Just shows you how amazing that girl is. They went absolutely insane when they showed Taylor on the screen.”
Acknowledging a minority of dissenting voices, Kelce added humorously, “There might have been a few Brads and Chads that were booing. But for the most part, everyone was screaming their tail off for her.”
Swift attended the game in support of Kelce, accompanied by her friend Alana Haim and her father, Scott Swift. Kelce took a moment to appreciate Scott Swift’s enthusiasm for the Chiefs, saying, “Mr. Swift (was) in full Chiefs gear. It’s kind of looking real nice on him… He’s rocking it. And he seems to be enjoying himself.”
This incident follows Swift’s recent remarks about the attention she garners at Kelce’s games. In an interview with Time magazine earlier this month, she expressed her lack of awareness regarding camera coverage, stating, “There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once. I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and p**sing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.”
