Pop sensation Rihanna has declared her reluctance to embark on a comprehensive tour until her eagerly anticipated new music takes center stage. The artist, who took a hiatus from live performances following her 2016 album ‘Anti,’ made a notable comeback with a show-stopping performance at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show and the release of the single ‘Lift Me Up’ from the ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ soundtrack. Despite these appearances, Rihanna remains steadfast in her decision to withhold a full-scale tour until her next album is completed.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, Rihanna articulated her stance, stating, “Well, we’re always gonna go back on tour. [But] I feel I want to do a tour when there’s new music. We already know what that’s gonna be, with the songs that I’ve performed on my last tour. That was a long time ago. I feel like it’s only fair that my fans get what they’ve been waiting on, which is new music. After that, let’s just like, blow everything up.”
Having dedicated the past few years to crafting her forthcoming album, Rihanna acknowledged that the pursuit of perfection has led to certain delays. She explained, “I realized that if I keep waiting until this feels right and perfect and better, maybe it’s going to keep taking forever, and maybe it’ll never come out, and no, I’m not down for that. So I want to play. And by play, I mean I have my ideas in my head, but I can’t say them out loud yet.”
While initial reports suggested a potential 2024 release for the album preceding a 2025 tour, Rihanna remains non-committal regarding a specific timeline. Addressing eager fans during an appearance on ‘Good Morning America,’ she conveyed, “They [the fans] are waiting. I’m excited to actually put new music out, but I don’t have any updates for you on that yet.”
