Renowned artist Chaka Khan has officially declared the conclusion of her touring career, as confirmed to Rolling Stone. While the iconic “Ain’t Nobody” singer plans to continue occasional live performances, she emphasized the need for a shift in focus away from extensive tours.
The 70-year-old artist explained her decision, stating, “Some people, that’s all they have, you know? I got this rich-a*s life. I’ve got great-grandchildren I want to get to know better.” Khan clarified that she won’t undertake another traditional tour but will opt for spaced-out performances to allow for ample rest between engagements.
When questioned about retirement, Khan humorously mentioned the possibility of following the trend of multiple comebacks, saying, “Well, I might do that three or four times, like other b**ches do.”
Chaka Khan’s upcoming schedule includes a performance in Los Angeles in January and several shows lined up in the U.K. during June and July. Despite her impactful musical legacy, Khan expressed nonchalance about her musical impact, stating, “I don’t really care” and expressing a hope that the art form remains authentic amid evolving trends.
