Pop sensation Selena Gomez, 31, has announced her decision to step away from social media in the wake of recent drama surrounding the Golden Globes. The star made the announcement on Tuesday, addressing accusations of gossip involving Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner during the awards ceremony on Sunday.
In a post on her Instagram Stories, Gomez shared a video featuring her boyfriend, Benny Blanco, with the caption, “I’m off social for a while. I’m focusing on what really matters.”
The decision follows the circulation of a viral video showing the former Disney star engaged in animated conversation with Taylor Swift and actor Miles Teller’s wife, Keleigh Sperry. Speculation arose among fans regarding the nature of their discussion, leading to rumors that Gomez had allegedly sought a photo with Timothée and Kylie, only to be turned down.
Forensic lip-reader Jeremy Freeman, as reported by Mail Online, claimed Gomez told her friends in the video, “He didn’t want a picture with me, he said no,” with Keleigh responding, “Timothée?”
Addressing the speculations, Gomez refuted the claims on Monday in the comments section of an E! News post, stating, “Noooooo I told Taylor about two of my friends who hooked up. Not that that’s anyone’s business (sic).”
Timothée Chalamet, when questioned by TMZ, also dismissed any issues with Gomez, affirming their positive relationship and stating that he and his “A Rainy Day in New York” co-star are on good terms.
This marks not the first but a periodic hiatus from social media for the “Only Murders in the Building” star, known for occasionally taking breaks from the platform.
