GRAMMY award-winning, multi-platinum rock band Kings of Leon are embarking on an exciting journey in 2024 with a series of significant announcements. Alongside revealing a new label partnership with Capitol Records, the band has set the release date for their highly anticipated 9th full-length studio album, titled “Can We Please Have Fun,” scheduled to hit the shelves on May 10.
The band kicks off the album’s promotion with the release of the hard-charging lead single, “Mustang,” now available for fans to enjoy along with its exhilarating music video, setting the tone for what’s to come with the album. Furthermore, Kings of Leon are thrilled to announce their 2024 World Tour, which is set to thrill audiences across 26 cities in the US and Canada, commencing on August 14, 2024. Additionally, the band will headline the BST Hyde Park festival in London on Sunday, June 30, with plans for more international tour dates soon to be revealed. General ticket sales for North American shows will commence on Friday, March 1 at 10 am.
“Can We Please Have Fun,” as implied by its title, promises to be a testament to one of the era’s greatest rock & roll bands indulging in experimentation and, indeed, having a good time. Recorded at Dark Horse studio in Nashville and produced in collaboration with new partner Kid Harpoon (known for his work with Harry Styles and Florence + the Machine), the album showcases a fresh facet of Kings of Leon’s musical repertoire. The band revisits their gritty roots while exploring new sonic dimensions, presenting a unified vision and purpose, free from any constraints, and delivering the album they’ve always aspired to create.
Lead vocalist Caleb reflects on the recording process, describing it as “the most enjoyable record I’ve ever been a part of.” Drummer Nathan adds, “It’s like we allowed ourselves to be musically vulnerable. I love it when a rock band is not embarrassed to admit that every song doesn’t have to be on 11.”
With a monumental year ahead, the band is primed to make an indelible mark on the world stage. “When you have a band, there’s a bond like no other, and when you have family, you have a bond like no other,” says Caleb. “We have both of those things. I thought, if we put all our energy toward something, who is gonna stop us? Who can stop us except us?”
