During an appearance on the Zach Sang Show podcast on Monday, Ariana Grande disclosed that revamped versions of her recently leaked tracks will feature on her forthcoming album, Eternal Sunshine.
Last year, a demo titled “Fantasize” surfaced on Spotify and TikTok without Grande’s authorization, quickly gaining traction across the internet.
“Thank you so much. I’ll see you in jail. Literally,” joked the 30-year-old singer during the episode, acknowledging the unauthorized leaks. She explained that the positive reception to the leaked music inspired her decision to incorporate them into her seventh studio album.
“The songs were like a parody of this girl group vibe. But (the fans) love it… It’s so corny, but it’s okay. I took the note and I kind of gave them Ariana’s version of that on the album,” Grande elaborated. “They’re completely different now. So although you’ve heard them – because you stole them – they’re very different now.”
In addition to discussing the leaked tracks, Grande shared insights into the thematic content of the album, indicating that some songs explore the challenges of seeing loved ones misunderstood by others, likely referencing media scrutiny of her relationships.
“When I was writing it was with no intention for the world to hear it,” she revealed about the album’s creation process. “I wrote them when I was very emotional, some of them, and then some of them are more bops.”
Grande recently dropped “Yes, And?,” the lead single from Eternal Sunshine, on January 12, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
Fans can anticipate the release of Eternal Sunshine on March 8.
