Cardi B has made a steadfast vow to her fans, promising the release of her highly anticipated new album this year. The chart-topping artist, known for hits like ‘Bodak Yellow’, declared her determination not to let anxiety or external opinions hinder the arrival of her sophomore record, following up on her 2018 debut ‘Invasion of Privacy’.
Amid the excitement surrounding her recent single ‘Like What (Freestyle)’, Cardi B took to her Instagram Story to offer a glimpse into her creative process. In a brief video, she scrolled through a multitude of music files on her computer, some dating as far back as January 27, 2023.
Addressing her followers, Cardi asserted, “Look how long I’ve had this record for. I’m not letting my anxiety, I’m not letting what haters say, I’m not letting what fans say [stop me]. If I do a song, I’m gonna just drop it. Well, I’ve got no choice because I’m dropping my album this year, so stay tuned for the announcement.”
In a caption accompanying the clip, the ‘WAP’ sensation revealed having recorded “100 songs” for the album, humorously adding, “January 2023 …. I really got like 100 songs [cry laughing emojis].”
Cardi’s update comes on the heels of earlier hints from insiders, suggesting that her second album was nearing completion and she was gearing up to unveil a “new era” in her career. Following the release of her collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion, ‘Bongos’, a source revealed to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column, “It’s been a long time coming but Cardi is finally ready to kick off her new era. She has pulled out all the stops with the video, money wasn’t an object. Cardi has made sure it has been well worth the wait. The album is almost ready and will be out soon.”
