In a much-awaited reveal, Dua Lipa, the renowned singer-songwriter, took to Instagram on Wednesday to announce her upcoming third studio album, titled “Radical Optimism.”
Scheduled for release on May 3, the album will feature 11 tracks, marking a significant milestone in Lipa’s musical journey. Already, she has teased fans with the release of two singles from the album, namely “Houdini” and “Training Season.”
Lipa shared her inspiration behind the album’s title, stating, “A couple of years ago, a friend introduced me to the term ‘radical optimism.’ It’s a concept that resonated with me, and I became more curious as I started to play with it and weave it into my life.” She continued, “It struck me – the idea of going through chaos gracefully and feeling like you can weather any storm.”
Delving into her creative process, Lipa revealed her exploration of various musical genres, including psychedelia, trip hop, and Britpop, noting their enduring optimism. “It has always felt so confidently optimistic to me, and that honesty and attitude is a feeling I took into my recording sessions,” she expressed.
The album’s cover art depicts Lipa serenely floating in the sea, with the silhouette of a shark fin subtly looming behind her, hinting at the album’s intriguing themes.
“Radical Optimism” marks Lipa’s return to the music scene since her 2020 album release, “Future Nostalgia,” showcasing her evolution as an artist and her continued commitment to delivering captivating musical experiences to her audience.
