Tyla, the artist behind the hit song ‘Water,’ has confirmed that she is in discussions with BLACKPINK’s Lisa for a potential collaboration. After hinting at the collaboration and expressing certainty that they will work together in the future, Tyla revealed that they have been in talks about joining forces on a song.
The 22-year-old singer recently shared a video on Instagram Story showing herself and the 26-year-old K-pop star enjoying ‘Art’ from Tyla’s debut album, which was released last week. In the caption, Tyla wrote, “sweetest gorllll, played her some of my favourite songs on the album… Definitely a LISA x TYLA collab down the line (sic).”
Confirming the collaboration discussions, Tyla stated to Reuters, “We’ve been speaking about making a song together, so yes, for sure.”
Aside from her potential collaboration with Lisa, Tyla is also aiming high in the music industry. She recently collaborated with Travis Scott on a remix of her breakout hit ‘Water’ and is setting her sights on working with rap icon Drake, 37. Tyla expressed her ambition to become “the biggest pop star” of her generation, emphasizing this goal in an interview with Trevor Noah for Interview magazine.
Reflecting on her aspirations, Tyla shared, “It feels like it happened very quickly. Whenever I get a new DM, I’m shocked. It doesn’t feel real yet. But I want to be the biggest pop star of my generation. That’s always been the goal, and it still is. And I really want to work with Drake. I’m going to say that in every single interview until he makes it happen.”
Tyla also drew inspiration from the success story of Barbadian superstar Rihanna, citing her journey as proof that dreams can be achieved. Recalling Rihanna’s rise to fame, Tyla remarked, “I do remember loving the story of Rihanna because she came from outside of America. It made me feel like my dream was achievable because, like you said, it’s not something that happens every day for us. My whole family wanted to be stars and it didn’t happen for them.”
