Hip-hop icons Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign have decided to cancel their planned listening parties for their joint Vultures project, which includes the second album in their Vultures trilogy. The initial album of the trilogy has already been released.
The scheduled “Vultures 1 & 2 Listening Experience” events were set to debut the second record to fans across Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., North Carolina, and Florida in April. However, arena officials announced over the weekend that these shows have been canceled, with some being quietly scrapped without official comment.
A representative for Kanye, also known as Ye, confirmed to Variety on Monday that the listening sessions had been called off. The representative also informed Billboard that new dates for these events would be announced soon.
Although no specific reason was provided for the cancellations, the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, mentioned “time constraints” in its announcement regarding the cancellations.
“We regret to report that due to time constraints for Ye and Ty Dolla $ign to curate production and meet logistic requirements, the upcoming dates for the VULTURES 1&2 listening experience will need to be revisited at a later date,” the statement from the Amalie Arena reads.
As of the current update, Kanye and Ty’s listening party scheduled at the Pyramid of Djoser in Egypt on 20 April remains unaffected.
This cancellation news follows closely after the controversial set by the rappers at the Rolling Loud festival in California in March. Fans had anticipated a live performance but were presented with the duo standing on stage while playing back Vultures 1.
Originally slated for release on 8 March, Vultures 2 has yet to be released, leaving fans awaiting its arrival.
