Electronic music star Princess Superstar, aged 53, is set to perform her first UK show in over a decade this Saturday.
Renowned for her 2007 hit single ‘Perfect (Exceeder)’ – which has resurged globally after featuring in ‘Saltburn’ – she will take the main stage at False Idols at Drumsheds in London. The event’s lineup includes Sophie Ellis-Bextor, bimini, Derrick Carter, Horsegirl, Sonique, and a DJ set from Self Esteem.
Expressing her excitement for her return to the UK, Princess Superstar stated, “I am beyond ecstatic to be back in London after 10 years away. The UK has always had my heart – and I can’t wait to rock on Saturday at Drumsheds!”
The resurgence of ‘Perfect (Exceeder)’, her collaboration with Dutch DJ Mason, in ‘Saltburn’ has garnered over 100 million streams, propelled the song up the UK singles chart, secured a spot at number 16 on Spotify’s Global Viral 50, and received remixes from star DJs like David Guetta, Jax Jones, and Oliver Heldens. It has also become a popular soundtrack for numerous TikTok posts.
Princess Superstar, known for her work with acts such as The Prodigy, Moby, Grandmaster Flash, Amy Schumer, and Margaret Cho, is grateful to Emerald for featuring her song in the film.
In an interview with BANG Showbiz, she shared, “It’s a great film, it’s a great song, and then you’ve got social media. We’re in an era of social media, so it’s pretty amazing that there was a perfect storm that happened for this song to come alive again – it’s just bananas.”
Fans won’t have to wait another decade to see Princess Superstar in the UK; she will also play at Warwick Castle on July 7 as a special guest to Mika and return in August for Brighton Pride’s FABULOSO event.
