Taylor Swift has returned to the stage with her ‘The Eras’ tour, bringing a fresh twist to her setlist.
The 34-year-old pop sensation took a hiatus from the tour earlier this year to release her 11th studio album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department.’ Now back on tour, she unveiled a new segment dedicated to this album at her comeback concert at La Défense Arena in Paris, France, on Thursday night (09.05.24).
This new segment features live performances of songs from ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ including debut performances of tracks like ‘But Daddy I Love Him,’ ‘So High School,’ ‘Who’s Afraid Of Little Old Me?,’ ‘Down Bad,’ ‘Fortnight,’ ‘The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,’ and ‘I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.’
In addition to these, Taylor surprised fans by including another track from the album during the surprise songs segment—performing ‘loml’ alongside ‘Paris’ from her 2022 album ‘Midnights.’
During the concert, Taylor playfully referred to the new segment as “Female rage, the musical,” likely alluding to the introspective and reflective themes of her past relationships explored in the album’s lyrics.
‘The Eras’ tour encompasses songs from all of Taylor’s album “eras” and is now updated with the incorporation of ‘The Tortured Poets Department.’ To accommodate this new segment, Taylor had to restructure the show, omitting songs like ‘The Archer,’ ‘Long Live,’ ‘The 1,’ ‘Tis The Damn Season,’ ‘Tolerate It,’ and ‘The Last Great American Dynasty’ from other parts of the setlist.
‘The Eras’ tour commenced in March 2023 in Glendale, Arizona, and spans an impressive 152 stadium dates worldwide, concluding in Vancouver, Canada, in December.
Ticket sales for the tour are forecasted to reach approximately $1.4 billion, positioning ‘The Eras’ as one of the most lucrative tours in history, surpassing Sir Elton John’s extensive farewell tour, which garnered around $939 million over several years.
