Celebrated singer-songwriter KT Tunstall is set to be honored with the Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Song Collection. The 48-year-old artist, known for her hit singles such as “Suddenly I See” and “Other Side of the World,” will receive the prestigious accolade from PRS for Music.
Tunstall expressed her gratitude, recalling her first Ivor Novello win: “My relationship with the Ivor Novello Awards began 18 years ago in 2006, with ‘Suddenly I See’ winning Best Song Musically and Lyrically. My statuette has remained the most meaningful of awards to me, and coming full circle to receive this Outstanding Song Collection award feels like such a gesture of appreciation towards my work since then.”
Since the start of her career nearly two decades ago, Tunstall has released eight studio albums, including her 2023 collaborative project with Suzi Quatro titled Face to Face. Her influence and achievements in songwriting have now earned her the distinction of being the fifty-eighth recipient of the Outstanding Song Collection honor, joining the ranks of notable previous awardees such as John Deacon, Bono, Jarvis Cocker, and Queen’s Brian May, Freddie Mercury, and Roger Taylor.
Tunstall will formally receive her award at The Ivors with Amazon Music ceremony, scheduled to take place at Grosvenor House in London on Thursday, May 23.
Tom Gray, Chair of The Ivors Academy, praised Tunstall’s continued impact on the music industry: “KT Tunstall’s songwriting craft and achievements have impressed and evolved continuously throughout her music career. Eighteen years after her first win, it’s a privilege to welcome KT back to The Ivors and present this highly deserved Ivor Novello Award.”
In celebration of this recognition, an unheard demo of Tunstall’s iconic track “Suddenly I See” will be released exclusively via Amazon Music.
